Happy Monday! I’m not usually a big fan of Mondays, but today’s my birthday so I’m feeling OK about this one. I’m 27! My big plans for the night are to go to dinner at The Cheesecake Factory with Brian and my family then head back to my parent’s house for cake. I had a busy, but fun weekend so I’m looking forward to a low key celebration tonight.
Saturday was my cousin Erica’s bachelorette party at Foxwoods Resort and Casino!
We had rented hotel rooms and a day bed by the pool with plans to hang out in the sun before heading back to the rooms to shower and go to Shrine night club. However, things didn’t go exactly as planned. Shortly after we arrived at the pool (around 11 am), someone spotted a brown substance at the bottom. Thankfully we hadn’t gone into the water yet because it turned out to be poop. The pool was immediately closed down while we had a front row seat watching the staff figure out the best way to get rid of it. The pool ended up being closed from 11-3:45, but even after it reopened we were all way to skeeved out to swim so the pool was a no go.
We had a great time anyway, but we were just a little bummed that we couldn’t enjoy the water on such a gorgeous day. The Foxwoods staff was really wonderful about the whole situation and gave us 50% off our rental. We all agreed the little pool incident gives Erica a pretty epic bachelorette party story, but what happened next was even better.
Around 6 we checked into our rooms and when Erica opened the door to hers she was greeted by a cart with chocolate covered strawberries and champagne with six champagne glasses. We first assumed it was meant for her, especially since there were exactly enough glasses for our group. Then we noticed there was a card addressed to someone named Emily. Erica called the front desk to make sure we were in the right rooms and the hotel said they had decorated the wrong room on accident and that we were free to enjoy the strawberries and champagne. That definitely made up for the pool situation and was a great way to kick off our night.
I didn’t think to take a picture until after we ate everything, hence the empty table in the photo. Oops! Anyway, the rest of the night went smoothly. We went to dinner, danced and drank at Shrine, went to the Casino (I lost $20), got some gelato and called it a night. I didn’t take many photos, but here are a few I did snap.
After all the indulging I did on Saturday, (combined with all the food I plan to eat tonight) I can’t wait to eat some healthy meals and get in a workout.
Have a great Monday everyone! I’ll see you tomorrow.
