Happy Friday! Today is my last day at my current job. My lovely coworkers took me out for drinks last night and it was definitely a night to be remembered. I’m happy and sad at the same time. I’m happy to be starting a new adventure, but sad to leave behind so many great people. I do ultimately believe I’m making the right decision though to move on.
Anyway, enough about work stuff. Let’s get to my Friday Favorites. As always, I invite you to play along in the comments and share some of your favorite things from the week.
I saw this movie in the theatre when it first came out and I thought it was great. I had read the book too and even though it’s not my favorite Gillian Flynn novel, I did really enjoy it. Brian and I watched Gone Girl again this week and I liked it just as much the second time around.
Love this pattern! Even better, the top is only $17.50. I have a vacation planned to Florida soon and I’m thinking this bikini would make an excellent addition to my suitcase.
Essie’s Mod Squad (picture via Spaz and Squee)
Of course I had to throw in a nail polish lol. Is anyone surprised? I switched out my new Essie Peach Side Babe for Mod Squad two days ago and I’m loving it!
What are your favorite things this week?
It’s the end of the work week so it’s time to wrap up with another edition of Friday Favorites. Per usual, I’ll be linking up Heather for a quick roundup of some of my very favorite things from this past week, but before I get to the good stuff I want to take a quick second to share some pretty awesome plans on my agenda for tonight. Brian and I are headed out after work to visit a local craft brewery with friends. It’s called Jack’s Abby and it’s right in the same town where I work. After a tour and tasting, the plan is to head to dinner as a group. I’ll be sure to fill you in on all the festivities in Monday’s post.
Now, for those Friday Favorites…..
The return of OUR shows
Mad Men and Game of Thrones are back! Brian and I are completely obsessed with both of these shows so it’s safe to say our Sunday nights just got a whole lot more entertaining. I’ve already rewatched the first two episodes of Mad Men and the season premier of Game of Thrones….I know. I’m addicted.
This amazing looking pasta dish
When this recipe popped on in my Bloglovin Feed via A Beautiful Mess, I pinned it right away. I love pasta and the creamier and cheesier, the better. Paired with a glass of red wine, this looks like heaven.
Inspiring Quote of the Week
This is a Pinterest find and ain’t it the truth. This is probably the number one rule in any creative field, but it also applies to blogging. Don’t be afraid to push boundaries, try something new and potentially fail. Often we learn more from our failures than our successes.
That’s it for me. Have a great weekend everyone. I will see you back here on Monday!
What’s one of your favorite things this week?
Happy Friday friends! Who has plans they’re looking forward to this weekend? Brian and I are going on a date night to Bertuccis, but other than it’s going to be a pretty low key weekend. It’s also going to hit 60 degrees in the Boston area. Can I get a woot, woot?
Alright, down to business. It’s Friday so I will be linking up with Heather for another edition of Friday Favorites. Here we go!
1. A field trip: I got out of the office for a story this week. It’s always nice to get a change of scenery, even if it was cold and rainy while I waited for the commuter rail into Boston and then walked to my destination from South Station. I didn’t stop to take a picture on my walk because I was freezing, but all in all it felt wonderful to be away from a desk.
2. Malibu Peach: I picked up another Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polish this week. The color is called Malibu Peach and it’s just the right shade for spring. In the picture below, I’m wearing three coats of polish. The color doesn’t look quite so orange in person. I think the lighting is a little off in my photo.
3. Lunchtime workouts: I know I’ve said it before, but I am loving my mid-workday workouts. No matter what’s going on in the office, a quick trip to the gym for a little cardio and I’m suddenly refreshed, energized and ready to go! It’s made a huge difference in my energy levels at the end of the day too. I’m not ready for bed at 8:00 pm anymore.
4. Starburst jelly beans: I had these for the first time at Brian’s aunt’s house on Easter. They are so good! I love traditional jelly beans (except the black one, which I find to be really gross), but these were even better. There wasn’t a flavor I didn’t like. Now I’ve been craving Starburst jelly beans all week!
What’s something you’re loving this week?
Since I was away most of the week, I don’t have too many Friday Favorites to share, but I wanted to drop in to say hi and link up with Heather anyway to show off a two weekday highlights.
Up first is the fantastic view from my hotel in Atlanta this week. I stayed on the 29th floor of the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.
Next is the pasta meal I ate two days in a row at the hotel bar. So delicious!
The dish included rigatoni, chicken, mushrooms, parmesan garlic sauce and red peppers. I’m still dreaming about it.
I know this isn’t much, but that’s all I got for you this week. I should have a lot more to report on Monday as I’m attending my second Pure Barre class Saturday morning, getting a new haircut (can’t wait!) and going to a surprise party at a 21+ bowling alley and arcade.
Have a great weekend! I’ll see you all on Monday!
TGIF friends! Who’s ready for the weekend? This girl is! I’m actually headed to Atlanta on Monday for a quick work trip. I’ll be home Wednesday night. I haven’t done any packing yet so I’ll be doing that this weekend at some point.
Since it’s Friday, I’ll be linking up with Heather for another edition of Friday Favorites. Here are some of the things I’m loving this week!
I love this quote. It came from a slideshow I found on POPSUGAR that featured 26 inspirational running quotes. If you’re feeling unmotivated to put in a workout, just read through these and you’ll be ready to hit the pavement.
This article from Greatisit: 83 Healthy Recipe Substitutions. Genius baking hacks here. I would have never thought of some of these.
I’m taking my first Pure Barre class on Saturday with my mom and my sister Dani. I can’t wait! I’ve been dying to take a class and a studio opened near me this fall. I’ve done a lot of barre videos at home, but I’ve never taken a class in an actual studio. I’ll be sure to check in on Monday with a review.
This is a short edition of Friday Favorites this week. I’m about to shut down my computer for the night and put in some quick strength training. Have a great weekend. I’ll see you back here on Monday!
What are your plans this weekend?
Happy Friday my friends! We made it through another work week and now it’s on to the weekend. Last night I was supposed to take my first BODYPUMP class, but I was hit with a headache I just couldn’t shake and decided a workout was not in the cards. I’m going to take the Saturday morning class instead.
Speaking of Saturday, we have dinner plans with our friends Nathan and Meredith. They’re coming to our place for some good food, wine and fun. It’s been way too long since we’ve seen them and I can’t wait to catch up and enjoy a few glasses of the good stuff.
Alright, since it’s Friday, I’ll be linking up with Heather for my 6th edition of Friday Favorites. Here we go!
My Favorite read this week
I had to laugh when I read this article in the New York Times. It’s called “When Your Punctuation Says It All.” It’s a funny take on how we infer certain things based on the punctuation (or lack thereof) in a text message. The writer was spot on.
My favorite nail polish
I’m still on the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel bandwagon. I picked up another color this week. It’s a classic red appropriately named Red Eye. Now, if I could only stop buying nail polish and start saving that money!
My favorite healthy living advice
This POPSUGAR article called “What Does One Serving of Vegetables Really Look Like?” One serving of each of these foods is actually a lot larger than I realized and the article made me think I should probably be eating more veggies with my meals.
My favorite song
I love Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.” It’s not a new song, but I’ve been hearing it on the radio constantly on my way to and from work. I really had no idea Ed Sheeran was so talented before hearing this song. I hadn’t ever really paid attention to him, but now I’m a fan.
That’s it for me everyone! I will see you back here bright and early on Monday. Have a great weekend!
Tell me one thing you’re looking forward to this weekend.
TGIF! Sorry I didn’t post yesterday. My work life has been somewhat stressful lately so I just needed a day off to think a little. Anyway, enough with the excuses, it’s Friday. I’m looking forward to the weekend. Who else is with me? I have a feeling it’s going to be a busy one. It’s my cousin’s 40th birthday so I’m going to a little party on Saturday. Other than that I have some housekeeping things to take care of that should keep me occupied.
Ok, lets get down to the usual Friday business around here. Per usual, I’ll be linking up with Heather for Friday Favorites. Here we go!
House of Cards
Today marks the return of House of Cards, which means tonight Brian and I will be on the couch with a bottle of wine binge watching the series….and I can’t wait! We are hooked on this show. Any other fans out there?
Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish
I’m particularly loving the magenta colored polish called “Mad Women.” I was worried it might be a little too bright, but it’s a nice jewel tone.
Fitness Blender Total Body Workout
I did this total body Fitness Blender workout on Tuesday and I’m still sore. It’s insane, but in a good way! I love feeling the burn after a good workout.
Green Tea w/Almond Milk
I have Ashley @ A Lady Goes West to thank for this one. Whenever I read her WIAW Wednesday posts I always see her green tea with cashew milk (I think). I’ve had green tea many times before, but never with any kind of milk so I decided to try it and now I’m hooked. I actually skipped my usual morning coffee in favor of this concoction a few times this week. Thanks Ashley!
Dark Chocolate Almonds
I was looking for a snack to bring to work the other day and I stumbled across these in the cabinet. Brian must have bought them because I know I didn’t, but I decided to try them anyway. I’m not entirely sure what the sugar content is, but it’s probably higher than I’d like. Either way the almonds are a delicious and filling snack.
That’s it for me this week. Now it’s your turn. What are some your Friday Favorites?
