If You Could Hang Out with Any Female Celebrity? + A Lower Body Workout

Happy we’re halfway through the work week day! I’m knocking on wood over here because the weather has continued to get warmer and I’m dreaming of shorts and tank top weather with a side of flip flops and some beach time. That’s still a ways off, but everyday we’re getting closer!

Since it’s wednesday I have a workout for you. This one is only four moves repeated four times. Easy to remember, right?

So…on a very different and unrelated note…this weekend I was flipping through the TV channels and I came across the movie This is 40Have you heard of it?

I had seen it before and I thought it was funny so I decided to leave it on in the background while I got some work done. As I was watching it, I was reminded of how much I like Leslie Mann. I think she’s hilarious and I was thinking she’s one of those female celebrities I’d love to hang out with for a day. Then I started brainstorming some of the other women I’d put on that list. Here’s what I came up with:

2. Lena Dunham–Are you sensing a pattern here? I love smart funny women and I’m a fan of Dunham’s show Girls, which I think gets so many things right about your early to mid 20’s.

3. Carrie Rezabek Dorr—Ok, maybe she’s not a celebrity, but I’d consider the founder of Pure Barre to be a fitness superstar and a pretty savvy business woman considering she started her first studio in the basement of an office and grew the Pure Barre brand into a popular franchise. I’d love to pick her brain for a little bit.

4.  Olivia Wilde–she just seems like the ultimate cool girl to me. I also think she comes across as a confident and intelligent woman in the interviews I’ve read. She’s someone who seems very comfortable in her own skin.

Workout Wednesday

It’s Workout Wednesday…Abs Style!

Happy Wednesday! The week will be half over soon and the weekend is in sight. I’m really looking forward to this weekend in particular because I’m reuniting with my best friend from grad school. I haven’t seen her in two years because she took a job out of state as news producer when we graduated, but she just moved back to New England and we’ll be reuniting Saturday afternoon. I cannot tell you how excited I am. I miss this girl dearly and I hope to see a lot more of her in the near future. There’s really nothing like a good girlfriend!

Alright, back to the real reason for this post. It’s Workout Wednesday so I have a new workout for you guys. This one is all about the abs.

I have to admit I did not test drive this one yet. I was too sore from the Pure Barre class I took on Tuesday, but I do plan to give it a try this weekend.

Total Body Workout!!!

Happy Workout Wednesday everyone. I’m still in sunny Georgia, but I’ll be flying back to Massachusetts this afternoon! In case you’re new here, I had a business trips this week and I left on Monday, but I set up some blog posts in advance so for you guys. However, I’ll be taking Thursday off so the next post you see here is going to be a Friday Favorites.

Alright, now on to the usual Workout Wednesday business. I have a total body routine for you guys today!


I threw in a few combination moves because those are my favorite. You get more bang for your buck, which is always a good thing.

Upper Body & Abs

The week is almost half over and the weather has been pretty warm here in the Boston area–and by warm, I mean in the 30’s-40’s, but trust me, it feels like spring compared to what we’ve had. On another note, My legs are still pretty sore from BODYPUMP so I put in a nice foam rolling session after dinner last night. I think not doing so before was a huge mistake because I’ve experienced a lot of tightness over the last few days. I do feel better after hitting the foam roller though, which brings me to this week’s workout.

In honor of Workout Wednesday, I put together this little routine, which is heavy on the upper body and the ab work, but light on the lower body. It was just right for my poor sore legs, which got a much needed break!

Back to Basics Upper Body Workout + I’m Trying BODYPUMP!

Happy Workout Wednesday friends! This is my favorite day of the blogging week. I love putting together my own workouts and getting to share them with you guys just makes me so happy. If you try any of my workouts or have some feedback, I’d love to hear it as I’m constantly looking to improve. I’m not a personal trainer. I’m just a fitness enthusiast!

Without further ado, here’s this week’s workout for ya.

I took this workout for a trial run last night and I was definitely pleased with the burn. It was also a great way to entertain myself while Brian watched the Celtics play the Cavaliers. I don’t mind basketball, but I’m not a huge fan of watching any sports on TV unless it’s baseball. I love baseball!

On another note, the Boston area is still buried in snow. Here was the view that greeted me this morning as I made my way to my car so I could head to the gym for an early morning workout.

Anyway, on a more positive note, I’m meeting a group of work friends for drinks and appetizers tonight and I’m pretty excited about that. It’s always nice to have some bonding time with coworkers. I’m also looking forward to Thursday night as I plan to take my first BODYPUMP class at Encompass Fitness (formally Gold’s Gym). I’m psyched about that. I’ve been dying to try BODYPUMP since I first read about it on the blogosphere about a year ago. I’m also a little nervous since I’ve never taken the class before. I plan to go early to introduce myself to the instructor and explain that I’m a newbie and have no idea what to expect.

Any words of advice?

Upper/Lower Body Workout

Happy Workout Wednesday! I hope everyone is having a great week so far. Per usual, I have a new routine for you guys today. This workout is an upper/lower body combo that’s designed to get your heart rate up a little too.

I don’t know about you, but I love workouts that hit a variety of muscle groups. The only area I tend to work on its own is my core. That’s also my favorite muscle group to work so maybe that has something to do with it 🙂 .

Do you prefer to focus on one area of the body or work multiple muscle groups? Do you have a favorite area to work?

10 Minute Ab Workout + I bought a Fitness Tracker

We’re still buried in snow here in the Boston area so I haven’t been to the gym as often as I’d like. Instead, I’ve been using my basement treadmill. I think I mentioned before that it’s stuck on an incline, which makes for one heck of a workout! I don’t do a lot of hill running so any treadmill work at an incline leaves my legs burning for days.

Speaking of burning, I have a 10 minute ab workout for you guys today. I did this one last night right in my living room.

Now, as you could probably tell from the title of this post, I have one more thing to share with you on this lovely Workout Wednesday. I bought a fitness tracker. I ordered a Jawbone Up from the Khol’s website. They were having a sale so I got it for $60 rather than $129. I’d been eyeing it for a while and with the price drop I just couldn’t say no.

This is the second generation band (at least I think it is). I know it’s not the newest model, hence the price cut, but I still thought it was worth the investment. My Up band is supposed to arrive today so I’ll be heading straight to the mailbox on my way home from work. I’m excited to open it and start playing around!
