Shopping On a Budget: 4 Stores You Have to Try

I love to shop. I don’t care if it’s for a cozy sweater, killer heels, a sparkly clutch or the perfect accessories. I don’t discriminate. However, now that I’m a 27-year-old homeowner things have changed. I haven’t lost my love for fashion, but between juggling a mortgage, bills and saving for my future, I’m far more selective about the things I buy and I’m always looking for a great deal.

I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite budget friendly stores and invite you to play along in the comments. After all, when you find a great bargain you have to tell your girlfriends, right?

American Eagle

American Eagle

99.9% of my jeans come from AE. I love them. The pair of denim pictured here is the AE jeggings in Modern Rinse and they’re $40, which is a steal! The company’s jeans really hold up well and every pair I have ever bought has lasted me years. If you’re looking for denim in black or something with a distressed look you can expect to pay a little more, but I don’t think I’ve ever spent more than $50 on jeans. AE also does an “All Jeans under $30” sale a few times a year so I suggest stocking up then. Sweaters and shoes are also pretty reasonably priced.  (jeggings, sweater, boots).

Forever21

Forever21

Forever21 is my go-to place for dresses, skirts and accessories. I’ve bought outfits for weddings, business trips and date nights here. I’ll admit the store can be a little chaotic so shopping in person can be a tad overwhelming. You need to go into the store in the mood to browse otherwise you could quickly get frustrated and give up. Online shopping is a great option for this retailer. Unless, like me, you think the hunt is part of the fun then head on in! Forever21 has the lowest price points of any store on this list. (dress, dress, necklace)

 H&M

H&M

I find H&M to be a little more expensive than Forever21, but it’s still a great place to bargain shop. I usually head there to find super trendy pieces, shoes and accessories. I think of H&M as a more affordable Topshop. (boots, biker pants, top)

Target

Target

I love Target. It’s a great place to stock up on basics. My favorite pair of black leggings I ever bought were Mossimo from Target and I think I paid $12 for them. I also own a few target purses all in the under $40 range, but I swear you can’t tell 😉 (leggings, bag, cardigan)

These stores are my favorites because they consistently have a great selection.  I also frequent both TJ Maxx and Marshall’s, but I find them to be a little hit or miss.

Where are your favorite places to shop when you’re on a budget?
